1) Mumbai Indians have a batting depth
Mumbai Indians were very active during the IPL auctions in Kochi. They bought Australiaβs rising star Cameron Green for 17.50 Crores. As Green joins the team, Mumbai Indians will have the best batting lineup in the tournament.
Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma will be opening the game with Green at the third spot who has maintained his strike rate at 173.75 in T20 cricket. Suryakumar Yadav will be in the spotlight again. In 2022, Surya was part of 31 T20 internationals and maintained his strike rate at 187.43.
In 2023, he played 6 T20s and his strike rate was 152.57. Dewald Brevis and Tilak Verma will also be part of the squad and they are expected to play a strong role in the middle order.
2) A new lineup of Bowlers
It has been noticed in the past few years that MIβs star pacer Jasprit Bumrah takes all the pressure off the team to pick wickets at the start of the match. However, this year it is going to be different. In Bumrahβs absence, Jofra Archer will be in the spotlight.
Archer is making his comeback to IPL after two years of absence. He has just made his comeback to international cricket with 3 T20 games and 4 wickets in his pocket. To support Archer, Mumbai Indians will have Jason Behrendorff who has been part of 5 IPL matches only but has picked up 5 wickets overall.
