The costliest buy of the IPL 2023 auction for Chennai Super Kings, tops the list. The English skipper missed out on IPL 2022 because of his mental health and international schedule. However, this year, Stokes was on the shopping list of every franchise because he registered himself for the auction.
The reason why Chennai splurged so much money to buy Stokes is probably that the franchise will be looking for a successor for MS Dhoni. Stokes led the English squad in the T20 world cup and they ended up winning the trophy. The year 2022 was above average for Stokes but his leadership skills were highly effective.
2) Ruturaj Gaikwad
The year 2022 was not as fruitful as it was expected for Ruturaj Gaikwad. The IPL 2021 orange cap winner, completely failed in IPL 2022 but still, the franchise has shown their trust in their opening batter and the team management will be looking forward to his comeback.
Gaikwad has been part of 36 IPL matches and he has scored 1207 runs at an average of 37.72 and a strike rate of 130.35. He is a highly effective opening batter and Chennai will give him more chances.
3) Ravindra Jadeja
When Ravindra Jadeja made his way for team India, nobody was aware that the team had struck gold. He is one of the most crucial players for team India in all the formats of the game. However, the year 2022 was full of disappointments and injuries. Jadeja was given the leadership of Chennai but he completely failed to bring positive results.
In fact, the franchise had to give the lead back to Dhoni in the middle of the tournament. Jadeja is out of action right now because of his injury and has not played a game with the team for the past 5 months.
