In international cricket, two of the primary Asian teams, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, will come face to face for the 2nd Test on Saturday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong. In the first Test, Sri Lanka scored a comfortable win and finished the game on day 4.
Bangladesh is currently at the 7th position in the World Test Championship table. The hosts have struggled in the red-ball format and have not been as good as white-ball cricket.
Sri Lanks stands at the 6th position in the point table as of now. The team management is in the process of reviving cricket in the country and hence, better results are expected shortly.

BangladeshSri LankaThe decision to ball first worked in favour of the team in the first inning. Khaled Ahmed and Nahed Rana controlled the innings since the start and picked up 3 wickets each at an economy of 4.24 and 6.21 respectively. Shoriful Islam and Taijul Islam also contributed with a single wicket each.
However, the performance of the batting unit was opposite. The top order was gone for a score of 31 runs. Taijul Islam (47 off 80), Litton Das (25 off 43), and Khaled Ahmed (22 off 28) scored the majority of runs for the team.
The second innings was a terrible disaster for the bowling unit. In every spell, the bowlers were unable to break partnerships and control the match. Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up 4 wickets at an economy of 2.55. Nahid Rana and Taijul Islam contributed with 2 wickets each.
Since it was a high-scoring chase, the batters were under pressure to perform. The top-order was again a failure but Mominul Haque scored 87 off 148 at a strike rate of 58.78 in the middle order. The rest of the batting unit failed to build partnerships and complete the chase.
Team management will be worried about the vulnerable batting unit.

The Lankan squad was given the chance to bat first but their first 5 wickets fell for a score of 57 runs in the first innings. It was post that Sri Lanka started to pick the momentum when Dhananjaya de Silva (102 off 131) and Kamindu Mendis (102 off 127) built a solid partnership and took the score beyond the 200 mark.
The bowling unit started on a significant note and displayed a dominating performance in the 1st inning. Vishwa Fernando picked up 4 wickets at an economy of 3.10. Kasun Rajitha and Kahiru Kumara picked up 3 wickets each at an economy of 3.50 and 2.58.
Sri Lanka already had the lead in the 2nd inning and hence the batters took the benefit of the same. Dimuth Karunaratne started off well and scored 52 off 101 at a strike rate of 51.49. Dhananjaya de Silva (108 off 179) and Kamindu Mendis (164 off 237) again came to the rescue of the team and played a match-winning role.
On the bowling front, Kasun Rajitha picked up a fiver at an economy of 4. Vishwa Fernando took 3 wickets at an economy of 2.40 and Lahiru Kumara took 2 wickets at an economy of 3.44.
