We have reached the business end of the 3-match test series between Australia and Pakistan. The last and 3rd Test is scheduled to begin on Wednesday at Sydney Cricket Ground. The hosts have already clinched the series but Pakistan has a last chance to save themselves from a huge embarrassment in the red-ball format.
Australia has come out on top and has ended their year on a positive note. They have dominated the visitors in both tests and will be eyeing a complete wipeout by winning the 3rd Test.
Pakistan has not played their best version of cricket in the longest format of the game. However, a win in the last Test can help them to gain momentum for the upcoming ODI series. The top bookmakers in India have amazing odds for this match.Β
Cummings has picked 13 wickets in the last 2 Tests out of which seven came in the first innings.
The betting tip is...
Pat Cummings to pick 2.5+ wickets in the 1st innings
The Aussies got the opportunity to bat first in the 2nd Test but their top-order failed to build a solid partnership in the 1st inning. Usman Khawaja (42 off 101), Marnus Labuschagne (63 off 155), and Mitchell Marsh (41 off 60) were the highest scorers.
On the bowling front, skipper Pat Cummins led from the front and picked up a fiver at an economy of 2.40. Nathan Lyon was also in the spotlight as he picked up 4 wickets at an economy of 3.88.
In the 2nd inning, the top order completely failed but it was Steve Smith (50 off 176) and Mitchell Marsh (96 off 130) who handled the innings and provided the scoring momentum.
Alex Carry also scored 53 off 101 at a strike rate of 52.48. Skipper Pat Cummins again dominated the bowling by picking up another fiver at an economy of 2.72. Mitchell Starc was also on fire and picked up 4 wickets at an economy of 4.13.
Scott Boland might get a chance to play by replacing Mitchell Starc.
Predicted Lineup: Pat Cummins (c), Alex Carey (wk), Usman Khawaja, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Hazlewood, Scott Boland, Nathan Lyon, Travis Head
The visitors started the 2nd Test on a positive note and they were in control of the game at the start. The bowlers did a fine job picking up timely breakthroughs and didn't allow the Aussie batters to dominate the game. Aamer Jamal picked up 3 wickets with Shaheen Afridi, Mir Hamza, and Hasan Ali picking up 2 wickets each.
On the batting front, Abdullah Shafique (52 off 109) and skipper Shan Masood (54 off 76) gave a good start to the team but the batting unit failed to build a constructive partnership. The middle order was a complete failure including Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel.
The bowlers in the 2nd inning continued with similar confidence and controlled the innings. Shaheen Afridi and Mir Hamza picked up 4 wickets each at an economy of 2.81 and 1.76 respectively. Aamer Jamal also contributed by scalping 2 wickets.
The batting unit was again a disaster as there was no consistency. Shan Masood (60 off 71), Babar Azam (41 off 79), and Salman Ali Agha (50 off 70) were the highest scorers but couldnβt help the team to score a win.
There wonβt be any changes in the bowling unit but Pakistan might try Saim Ayyub instead of Imam Ul Haq.
Predicted Lineup: Shan Masood (captain), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Saim Ayyub, Saud Shakeel, Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, Salman Agha, Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali, Mir Hamza, Aamer Jamal
The two teams are on different tangents of their performance in the last 2 Tests. Pakistan has struggled with their batting where the batters have failed to build a winning partnership.
Australia has been a well-balanced team where the pace unit has controlled the game. We predict a win for Australia in the 3rd Test as well as they carry the momentum and players have performed well.
