It was not a good day for the men in green in the 4th T20. They chose to bowl first but the batters failed to complete the chase. The bowlers started off slow and failed to decimate the top order of the Kiwis in the early hours of the match.
Abbas Afridi was the top bowler and picked up 3 wickets at an economy of 6.67 in 3 overs. Mohammad Amir, Zaman Khan, Usama Mir, and Iftikhar Ahmed contributed with a single wicket each. Out of these four, Zaman Khan was costly and displayed an economy of 11.67.
The top-order batting unit of Pakistan turned out to be the primary reason for the failure. Their first three wickets fell for a score of 46 runs. It was Fakhar Zaman in the middle order who handled the situation and scored 61 off 45 at a strike rate of 135.56.
Unfortunately, he was unable to get any support from the other end. Ifthikar Ahmed (23 off 20) and Imad Wasim (22 off 11) tried to chase the score but in the end, it was not enough to win the match.
Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan and Abrar Ahmed are expected to be part of the playing for the last T20.
Predicted Lineup: Saim Ayub, Babar Azam (c), Fakhar Zaman, Usman Khan (wk), Shadab Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Shaheen Afridi, Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah
The visitors made full use of the opportunity to bat first. The top-order started on a good note and gave a major advantage to the team.
Tim Robinson scored 51 off 36 at a strike rate of 141.67. Tom Blundell (28 off 15) and Dean Foxcroft (34 off 26) were also major contributors at the start. Skipper Michael Bracewell (27 off 20) provided a much-needed push to the overall score from the lower end.
The bowling unit of New Zealand also started on a positive note and did major damage to Pakistanβs top order. They didn't allow the opposition to balance the innings and gain the upper hand. Will OβRourke picked up 3 wickets at an economy of 6.75 in 4 overs. Ben Sears scalped 2 wickets at an economy of 6.75 in 4 overs. James Neesham and Micheal Bracewell contributed with a single wicket each.
Tim Robinson, William ORourke, andΒ Dean Foxcroft are the key players for New Zealand.
Predicted Lineup: Tim Robinson, Tom Blundell (wk), Dean Foxcroft, Mark Chapman, James Neesham, Michael Bracewell (c), Josh Clarkson, Ish Sodhi, Jacob Duffy, Ben Sears, William ORourke
New Zealand carries a one-match advantage in the series and they have done exceptionally well in the last 2 fixtures. However, the hosts can be deadly in the last T20 as they will be expected to bring their A-game.
Their primary bowlers will also return in the playing XI and that will be an added advantage for Pakistan. We predict a win for Pakistan in the 5th T20.
