On Friday, 23rd December, Lucknow Super Giants won the bid for 16 Crore for the player and now Nicholas Pooran will be seen playing for Lucknow. There have been questions asked on Pooranβs worth in IPL as the price tag attached to him looks too much.
Looking at his IPL stats, Nicholas Pooran has scored 912 runs in 47 games at an average of 26.06 and a strike rate of 151.24. While playing with Hyderabad, Nicholas Pooran scored 306 runs in 14 matches at an average of 38.25 and a strike rate of 144.34.
His performance improved since the 2021 season when his strike rate was 111.84 and the average was 7.72.
In the year 2022, Nicholas Pooran was part of 23 T20 internationals and was able to score 582 runs at an average of 29.10 and a strike rate of 130.49. In international cricket, Pooran has shown signs of improvement as his average in 2021 was 25.47 and his strike rate was the same as in 2022.
Without a doubt, Nicholas Pooran is a crucial player in IPL and his improvement in the quality of cricket is the answer to it. However, the price tag of 16 Crore looks too much considering the fact that Lucknow already has a wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul.
Pooran will be a major push in the middle order of Lucknow but he will have to go a bit extra mile to prove that he is worth the price.
