Five New Faces Who Might Get a Call for India’s Tour to West Indies

The rivalry between India and the West Indies has been intense and competitive. The West Indies dominated world cricket in the 1970s and 1980s with their formidable pace attack and batting lineup, featuring legendary players like Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards, and Malcolm Marshall.Β

During this period, the West Indies were a dominant force in Test cricket, and their contests with India were highly anticipated. However, in the current era of cricket, both teams are struggling to score big wins in ICC tournaments. Even after having an immense talent pool and some of the best players in the team, India has found itself at the shore empty-handed.

After team India’s loss against Australia in the final game of WTC, the team is scheduled to tour West Indies for two Tests and 3 ODI fixtures. In this article, we have compiled a list of some fresh faces who might get their maiden cap for Team India. The cricket betting sites have amazing cricketing odds with them.

1) Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal is a talented young cricketer who made headlines with his exceptional performance in IPL 2023. While playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023, Jaiswal scored 625 runs in 14 matches of IPL at an average of 48.08 and a strike rate of 163.61. He scored one century and five half-centuries in the whole tournament.Β

One of Jaiswal's notable strengths is his temperament. Despite his young age, he has shown maturity and a calm approach to his batting. Post his IPL 2023 performance, Jaiswal has knocked on the doors of BCCI and the selection committee and the members will be giving serious thought to the selection of the player.

2) Mukesh Sharma

The Delhi Capitals pacer has paid his dues in domestic cricket and has shown consistency in his game. Mukesh was picked up for Team India in September 2022 against South Africa but was not picked up to play any game. He was also a reserve player for the Indian squad for WTC Final. Considering the struggles of team India in the pace attack, Mukesh Sharma is a good option for BCCI and a new face who can try against West Indies.

3) Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh is known for his aggressive batting style and ability to score quick runs. He has showcased his stroke-making abilities and has been a consistent performer at the domestic level and recently everyone witnessed his brilliant performance in IPL 2023 while playing Kolkata Knight Riders.Β

Rinku Singh can be a useful lower-order batsman for Team India in the limited-over format of the game. BCCI can give him a chance to showcase his talent against West Indies and if he performs at his best, Rinku can be used in the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup 2023.

4) Jitesh Sharma

The Punjab Kings wicket-Keeper batsman, Jitesh Sharma, has been in the mind of the selectors for a long time. After KL Rahul’s exit from Punjab Kings, Jitesh handled the responsibilities very well and because of the same reason, he got his maiden call for India in January 2023 against Sri Lanka.Β

However, Jitesh was not selected to play any game but he performed with the same aggression and consistency in IPL 2023, and this year, there is a high possibility that BCCI might call him up for the West Indies tour.

5) Sarfaraz Khan

One of the most controversial names in Indian domestic cricket, Sarfaraz Khan, has stunned everyone with his performance in domestic cricket. With 3175 runs in 34 first-class cricket matches at an average of 77.43, Sarfaraz has been knocking on the door of the selectors for a long time.Β

He expected to get selected during the WTC 2021-23 cycle but the hopes are still high for him and West Indies tour is a good opportunity for him to start his senior team journey.
