Can RCB Repeat the result of WPL 2024 in IPL 2024?

It is always an overwhelming experience when a team – which has been a fan favourite for more than a decade, wins a trophy for the first time. These formidable moments are experienced by sports lovers and players every year.

The feeling was experienced by the cricket fans in India when team India won the ODI World Cup in 2011 – after a drought of 28 years. In Football, Argentinian fans experienced this feeling when Messi’s Argentina lifted the World Cup trophy after 36 years of wait.

In the recently held Women’s Premier League, RCB fans rejoiced the moment when Smriti Mandhana lifted the trophy in the 2nd edition of the league and gave reason to enjoy the moment the Bangalore fans.

Calm and Composed Smriti Mandhana wrote her name in the history books of T20 cricket leagues as her team defeated Delhi Capitals in the final fixture of the league. The story will be titled as one of the biggest comebacks in sports entertainment history.

Royal Challengers Bangalore started the league with two consecutive wins in the league but soon lost track of their performance and witnessed two losses against the table toppers Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.

At one point, Bangalore was on the verge of getting eliminated from the league but skipper Smriti Mandhana led from the front and took the team into the finals.

The road to the finals was not easy and they were facing one of the best teams in WPL. However, accuracy in bowling and a dominating performance by Bangalore was the highlight of the day with the win of the first Women's Premier League trophy.

As the league comes to an end, the attention of cricket fans will shift towards the Indian Premeir League which is scheduled to start from 24nd March. The biggest question is – Can RCB repeat the same result in IPL 2024 as well?

Royal Challengers Bangalore – An Unfortunate Tale

In the 15 years of IPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore have never lifted the trophy but they have come out as the biggest chokers in the league. They have runners-up thrice and 5 times the franchise has finished the tournament at the playoff stage.

Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, RCB reached the playoffs thrice but unfortunately one of the greatest cricketers failed to help the franchise lift the elitist trophy. After his resignation from the Captaincy duties, Faf du Plessis took over the job but the result has been the same.

Royal Challengers Bangalore come across as a team with a strong combination of players who are known to play quality cricket in the international arena. They don’t lack talent and the reason for their trophy drought is a big mystery.

Royal Challengers Bangalore – Is 2024 the Year for Bangalore?

During the IPL 2024 auctions, Royal Challengers Bangalore were idly active and bought players like Alzarri Joseph (Rs. 11.50 crore), Yash Dayal (Rs. 5 crore), Tom Curran (Rs. 1.5 crore), Lockie Ferguson from the draft.

They already have Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, and Reece Topley in the team and these names are a threat to any opposition in the world.

RCB doesn't lack experience this year and their playing XI will be a good mixture of international and domestic players.

The idea is to keep the team motivated during the difficult times. Skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli will form a combination to lead the team on and off the ground.

The duo have enough experience to keep the team motivated and reach the pinnacle of success and repeat what was done by Smriti Mandhana in WPL 2024.
