2023 British GP Prediction – Formula 1

The Max Verstappen show continued in Red Bull’s home race in Austria, as the Dutch driver took one giant leap towards sealing a third consecutive world championship title. The result helped him extend his lead at the top of the world championship to a staggering 81 points over his teammate Sergio Perez.

The Austrian Grand Prix also saw Ferrari finally have some good news as Charles Leclerc finished second on the podium, ahead of Perez from Red Bull.Β

There will be no space for the drivers or the teams to ponder or celebrate their results though, as a quick turnover means the calendar will swiftly move to one of the most anticipated races of the year, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.Β

Will we see another Max Verstappen masterclass? Or will other racers step up to the challenge and give the Dutch maestro something to ponder about?

News

Silverstone is one of the most historic racing tracks around the globe and all the drivers look forward to performing well at the iconic venue. Many teams also have their factory setups around the Silverstone area, almost making it a home race for them.Β

The British crowds will also be raucous as they will have a plethora of drivers to support, including hometown heroes Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, and Lando Norris. But the question remains the same – who will pose even the slightest bit of challenge to a rampaging Verstappen?Β

The pressure is also on Sergio Perez, who has had a mixed time in the middle after a solid start to the season. The expectation at Red Bull will certainly be higher considering the dominant car that Perez is functioning in.Β

All eyes will also be on Ferrari as they look to build upon Charles Leclerc’s podium finish in Speilberg. Fernando Alonso can also not be counted out after the consistent results he has enjoyed in 2023.

Weather forecast

There is a mixed forecast on the radar for the race weekend at Silverstone. It is expected to be dry and sunny for the practice sessions on Friday and the qualifying sessions on Sunday. But there is a good chance that we will witness some showers as the drivers battle it out for places on Sunday.Β

Highs of 21 degrees Celsius are expected at the start of the race on Sunday with the skies being cloudy. Heavens are then expected to open when the race moves along, with there being a good chance of passing showers.

Silverstone circuit

The historic Silverstone Circuit is one of the oldest in the calendar, having opened up in 1947. The first F1 race at the track was held back in 1950 and it has been a feature of the calendar for many years that have followed.Β

The Silverstone circuit is a dream for the drivers, with the essential nature of the track being fast-paced and breath-taking.Β

The track also has three historic corners – Maggots, Becketts, and Abbey that provide some of the biggest challenges to the drivers. The track is 5.891 kilometres long and we will witness 52 laps on Sunday.Β

The British Grand Prix at Silverstone also welcomes one of the most raucous crowds on the calendar, with the British crowds having a great appreciation for their motor racing at a cathedral of a circuit.
