2023 Dutch GP Prediction – Formula 1

The 2023 Formula 1 season returns after the summer break, as the drivers will resume their race to glory at the Dutch GP in the Netherlands.

F1 will be back after almost a month and we will restart with Max Verstappen still head and shoulders above the competition, having won at the historic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps during the Belgian Grand Prix. With the win, Verstappen extended his lead at the top of the drivers championship to a staggering 125 points.

Verstappen will be further motivated when the action returns, as the Dutch Grand Prix will mark the arrival of the hometown hero. The crowd will be hot for Verstappen, egging him on to take another crucial step in his hunt for a third consecutive world title and the question remains, will anyone be able to stop the hometown hero from sealing yet another top-placed finish at the Circuit Zandvoort?

After the mid-season break, the drivers and teams will come back refreshed and ready to roar in Zandvoort. The onus will be on other teams to step up their game in order to beat Red Bull, who have sealed a stunning 12 victories in the season.

Zandvoort, with its layout, will provide an opportunity for other teams to compete with the Austrian manufacturers, as the circuit doesn’t have the longest of straights and downforce won’t be as big of a factor – an area where Red Bull clearly holds the edge over the other cars.

The result in Belgium was a big boost for Sergio Perez though, who gained some confidence with an assured drive to finish second. Ferrari also made their presence felt, with Charles Leclerc sealing the third and the final podium spot.

With the result, Ferrari will now hope for a strong end to what has otherwise been a highly disappointing season. The likes of McLaren, Aston Martin and Mercedes, who have been the most consistent teams apart from Red Bull, will also aim to ensure that their cars finish on the podium at Zandvoort.

Weather Forecast

Rain is in the air for the Dutch Grand Prix weekend in Zandvoort. Forecasts for Friday predict that it will be rainy in the morning, before becoming windy and cloudy from the afternoon onwards.

Saturday is a mixed bag with some sunshine followed by the clouds taking over the course of the afternoon as the rain starts to pour.

Expect a wet race on Sunday with the forecast predicting it to be a windy day throughout with consistent spells of rain.

Circuit Zandvoort

The Circuit Zandvoort in Northern Netherlands has a rich history when it comes to Formula 1 and motorsport in general. The circuit was opened up in 1948, with the first race taking place in 1952. Despite being an old track, F1 would race on and off on the circuit till 1985 before disappearing from the annual calendar. The circuit would make a comeback in the calendar after over 35 years in 2021 and has been a feature ever since then.

In terms of characteristics, the circuit is 4.259 kilometers long and is the closest thing that an F1 circuit resembles to a roller-coaster ride. It has fast and flowing corners with short straights, making it a big test for the drivers to come to grips with the pace and the nature of the track.

The atmosphere at Zandvoort will also be pretty special, with the crowd turning up in numbers to cheer on Max Verstappen, as the Dutch superstar continues his domination in the sport.
